French Jews, the largest Jewish community in Europe, began moving to Israel in larger numbers after 2000 as antisemitic attacks rose, among them the Toulouse school shooting of 2012 and the Hyper Cacher attack of 2015. About 7,000 arrived in 2015 alone. Many settled in Netanya, Ashdod and Jerusalem.
