Events

From 1948 through the 1960s most of the Jews of Morocco, Tunisia and Libya moved to Israel, while most Algerian Jews went to France. The secret Operation Yachin of 1961 to 1964 alone brought about 97,000 Jews from Morocco. Many were sent to new development towns in the Negev and Galilee and faced hardship and discrimination. Their descendants are now one of the largest parts of Israeli society.
