Israel grew from 1.2 million residents in 1949 to 9.8 million in 2024. Jews grew from 1.0 million to 7.2 million, Muslims from 112,000 to 1.8 million. Muslims, Christians and Druze are almost all Arab. The “Others” layer appears after the Soviet immigration of the 1990s.
Sources. Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) series as compiled by the Jewish Virtual Library, 1949 to 2022. CBS table for the end of 2024. The 2023 value is omitted because the compiled table is incomplete. “Others” is the residual: residents with no religion recorded in the Population Register, mostly immigrants and their families who are not registered as Jews, plus non-Arab Christians counted under Christians. The series covers residents of Israel including East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, and excludes the West Bank, Gaza and foreign workers.
