The Jewish share peaked near 89 percent in the late 1950s, fell to 74 percent by 2020 as Muslim natural increase outpaced Jewish growth and immigration slowed, and has held near that level since. The Muslim share rose from 7.7 percent in 1960 to 18.5 percent in 2024. The “Others” share of 4.5 percent is a separate and growing group.
